Chulu East Trek and Climb (6200 m)

Chulu East is located north of Pokhara, close to the Buddhist village of Manang. On easy trails and suspension bridges, through rice terraces and forest, the approach follows the world famous Annapurna Circuit itinerary, through a wonderful variety of landscape and culture, from the subtropical lower Marsyangdi, inhabited by the Gurungs and Thakalis, to the northern,
arid Buddhist area. The Manang area lies in a rain shadow formed by the Annapurnas and supports little in the way of forest apart from pine, juniper and scrub rhododendron. Huge glacial moraines abound, etched deeply by wind erosion into fantastic pillars. Chulu East offers spectacular climbing, directly opposite the Annapurnas, and ranks amongst the finest of Nepal's trekking peaks. The ascent starts in Hongde and includes little technical climbing (Grade Alpine PD - a few short sections of steep snowy slopes around 45 degrees) and provides breath-taking views of Annapurna II, III and IV. We complete this fantastic adventure by crossing the Thorong La (5415 m) to Jomosom. From there we can either fly, or walk along the Kali Gandaki river to Pokhara. This program is strenuous between day 02 and day 05 and is suited for very fit people with basic mountaineering skills. You can add an extra day (quotation on demand).
